Hwasung Group Inc., an electrical and electronic components manufacturer, announced it is growing its South Carolina footprint with a new Florence County operation. The company’s $5 million investment will create 32 jobs.

Founded in 1994, Hwasung manufactures precision components for elevators, marine ships, industrial robotics, and energy infrastructure. The Korean company operates facilities in the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam, including an existing headquarters office in Lexington County.

At its new Florence County manufacturing plant, located at 1611 Otis Way in Florence, Hwasung will produce parts for three major sectors: elevators and escalators, energy and power distribution, and advanced industrial equipment, including industrial automation, robotics, precision machinery, and medical equipment.

Phase one operations are expected to be online in January 2027, and phase two operations are expected to be online in the second half of 2027.

“Florence County welcomed us as neighbors long before we opened our doors," said Hwasung Group Inc. President and CEO Tony Kim. "As a family company founded in 1994, Hwasung has spent more than 30 years building precision manufacturing expertise and lasting relationships. With this new plant, we will bring that expertise closer to our customers across North America, and we are excited to welcome the people of Florence to the Hwasung family.”

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $50,000 Set-Aside grant to Florence County to assist with the costs of building improvements.
