UnitedHealthcare and Bon Secours St. Francis in South Carolina have reached an agreement that officials say provides continued, uninterrupted network access to the health system for people enrolled in the following plans:

* UnitedHealthcare employer sponsored commercial plans, including UMR and Surest.

* UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, including Group Retiree and Dual Special Needs Plans (DSNP).

In a June 26, 2025, statement, UnitedHealthcare said, “We will mail letters to members who previously received a letter from us regarding the possibility Bon Secours St. Francis could leave our network. These letters will inform members that Bon Secours St. Francis will remain in our network with no change.”

The statement added, “We thank our members and employer group customers for their support and patience throughout this process. We are honored to continue supporting all of the people throughout South Carolina who depend on us for access to quality and affordable health care.”

In a statement, Bon Secours said, “We are pleased to share that we have reached a new agreement with UnitedHealthcare in South Carolina to help ensure our patients continue to have access to high-quality, compassionate care.”

It added that Bon Secours providers and facilities in South Carolina, including all buildings on St. Francis Hospital campus, physician practices across the Upstate, ambulatory surgery centers and urgent care locations are still considered in-network for patients with the following UnitedHealthcare insurance:

o If you have commercial (employer-sponsored) insurance.

o If you have Medicare Advantage insurance. o If you have Exchange (Marketplace/Affordable Care Act) insurance.

o If you have insurance with the Veteran’s Affairs Community Care Network (VACCN).

“As a ministry, our goal is to establish long-term agreements with all major insurance payers, like UnitedHealthcare, so we can deliver high-quality health care to patients in the communities we serve,” Bon Secours said.
