Since 2006, PalmettoPride has helped more than 797,404 volunteers remove 91,846,724 pounds of litter from South Carolina roads and natural areas. Sarah Lyles, who has served as executive director since 2013, said she believes in empowering people to create the changes they want to see in their own communities. By giving individuals ownership, support, and a clear reason to get involved, she helps them build cleaner, safer, and healthier places to live. Lyles views litter prevention as just one piece of a much larger puzzle — an entry point that leads to stronger neighborhoods and greater economic development opportunities.
