Bob Morris began his career in banking before making the transition to philanthropy. He has been president of the Community Foundation of Greenville since 1999, and during his time there, the foundation has distributed more than $200 million in grants in Greenville County. In addition to his previous work in banking, Morris also holds a law degree, and he serves as a member of the Fiduciary and Estate Planning Section of the North Carolina Bar. Giving back is important to Morris, who in 2020 led efforts to raise $900,000 for investment with the Greenville Housing Fund. He’s been heavily involved in the Upstate community over the years, serving on the board of Artisphere and working with such organizations as OnTrack Greenville, Greater Good Greenville, Greenville Partnership for Philanthropy, and Greenville Women Giving. He has been a Paul Harris Fellow and is a member of the Veterans Support Committee of the Greenville Rotary Club. Morris says that helping to establish Greenville Women Giving and OnTrack Greenville are among his proudest professional accomplishments. Asked about his goals for the next three years, Morris said, “In addition to increasing the impact and scope of the Community Foundation, my board of directors and I are taking the steps to ensure the next president has the financial resources, board expertise, and professional expertise to succeed well into the next 25 years.”
