The City of Greer turns 150 years old this week, and the community is celebrating with a Trade Street takeover.
The Greer150 Big Bash will travel through time from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 in the city’s historic downtown area known as Greer Station. Music on the main stage will include a gospel group, a bluegrass band, and Guardians of the Jukebox who will pump up the crowd with a multimedia “everything 80s” experience.
The Greer Heritage Museum, the city’s partner in the Greer150 initiative, will host a live radio show, a barbershop quartet, and the New River Gospel Bluegrass band inside the Historic Greer Depot. The museum team will also lead a historic walking tour through downtown.
A classic car show will put a shine on Trade Street near the Poinsett St. intersection, and the Colorful Hat Circus will stage pop up aerialist and variety shows from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Big Bash Kid Zone will take over the Wild Ace Pizza & Pub parking lot at the intersection of Randall and Depot Streets, and trade demonstrators, artisans, and food vendors will set up throughout the event.
The Big Bash will have a big finale with a laser light show on Trade Street after dark. Find a full event schedule and festival map on the city’s Greer150 webpage: https://www.cityofgreersc.gov/page/greer-150
In preparation for the Greer150 Big Bash, road closures will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, March 27 in the 300 block of Trade Street. Additional downtown street closures will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.
