Greenville Tech Names Center for Manufacturing Innovation Campus for President Emeritus Keith Miller

Ten years after its founding, Greenville Technical College’s Center for Manufacturing Innovation (CMI) Campus was renamed to honor the man whose work help lead to its creation, President Emeritus Keith Miller.

Miller, who was president of Greenville Tech for 17 years, was honored at a ceremony on the center’s Millennium Drive campus on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The Center for Manufacturing Innovation offers training in mechatronics, electronics engineering, and CNC machining, and it offers South Carolina’s only bachelor’s degree program at the two-year college level. Enrollment has grown by 200 percent in the past decade, Greenville Tech officials said.

The center’s importance to the Upstate’s economy is hard to overstate, said Mike McCormack, Greenville Tech Foundation board chair.

“CMI is to Greenville County as the Port of Charleston is to South Carolina,” McCormack said.

Julio Hernandez, Clemson University assistant to the president for community outreach and engagement, worked as Greenville Tech campus director from 2015 to 2017, and he praised Miller’s vision for the program.

“His leadership left a lasting imprint on the Upstate,” Hernandez said.
