The Town of Fort Mill broke ground on Sept. 16, 2026, on a 33-acre site for its new Operations Center.
Standing against a backdrop of red dirt and construction equipment, Fort Mill Town Manager Cary Vargo highlighted the importance of building a new home for the Town’s Utilities and Public Works departments, which have a combined total of 85 employees.
The new center will include an administration building, warehouses, vehicle and equipment storage, a fleet maintenance building, and a fuel and wash depot.
“It’s going to be a wonderful campus, incredibly functional and one that’s long overdue,” Vargo said.
The project is underway and is anticipated to be completed within 15 months.
