Senior BSA & Fraud Investigator

Spero Financial Federal Credit Union

Greenville

Age 32

I grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where I attended Spartanburg Methodist College and later obtained designation as a Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist and a Certified Fraud Examiner. I have worked in the financial services industry for over 12 years — starting out in branch roles, moving on to a regional management position, and eventually finding my passion in the BSA department. I currently serve as the senior BSA and fraud investigator at Spero Financial Federal Credit Union, where I work closely with my peers and law enforcement partners to protect our members from the impacts of fraud and disrupt criminal use of the financial system. Having witnessed the devasting financial and emotional impacts that scams can have on our community, I strive to prevent fraud through educational campaigns, internal training, and direct intervention on a daily basis. On a larger scale, I aspire to collaborate with industry and government leaders to implement the legislative and cultural changes necessary to combat the fraud epidemic that is bolstered by TOC groups and the weaponization of technology.

It’s a great reminder to draw strength from your past achievements and remember the incredible things that you’ve accomplished — even when they first felt impossible.

Definition of a Successful Leader: A successful leader is one who leads by example and displays unwavering integrity and dedication to their team- yet also remains adaptive and utilizes the input and expertise of their team to drive unified success.
