Award-Winning Statewide Public Relations Firm Announces New Leadership; Details of Brand Refresh after 15 Years in Business

Posted

MPA, a well-known public relations agency, has announced a brand refresh to celebrate its 15th anniversary, along with a leadership milestone as Adrienne Patrick, a Greenville native, is named MPA’s new chief operating officer.

Since its founding in 2011, MPA has grown from a local firm into a trusted South Carolina strategic agency, which MPA officials note is known for smart insights, creative execution, and measurable impact. The 2026 brand refresh reflects the evolution of the firm’s vision — honoring its rich legacy while signaling a dynamic future ahead.

“As we mark 15 years in business, we’re energized by how far we’ve come and even more inspired by where we’re headed,” said Ashley Hunter, chief executive officer of MPA. “Our refreshed brand captures our identity as an agile, innovative partner for clients who want results and meaning in equal measure.”

Patrick Named Chief Operating Officer

Adding to the branding and structure changes, MPA is also announcing that director of development and operations, Adrienne Patrick, has been named chief operating officer. In her expanded role, Patrick will lead operational strategy, drive internal efficiencies, and help scale the firm’s offerings while preserving the collaborative culture that defines MPA.

Patrick has been instrumental to MPA’s growth for almost 10 years, bringing strategic discipline, operational strength, and deep experience in grant funding and client services. Her leadership will be key as the firm continues to innovate and expand its impact.

“I am excited to take on this role at such a pivotal moment at MPA,” Patrick said. Patrick, a Greenville native, is also a certified grant-writer for MPA clients and the executive director of the South Carolina Green Industry Association.

MPA's History & The MPA Brand Refresh

The refreshed brand, elevated leadership, and recent accolades together underscore MPA’s commitment to strategic thinking and creative excellence as it embarks on its next 15 years of growth.

“One thing that will always matter to us is honoring where MPA began,” said Hunter. “In 2011, MPA was McKay Public Affairs — the public affairs arm of The McKay Law Firm. The firm is a Columbia-based defense firm founded in 1908 by Douglas McKay, Sr. and has been a pillar of the legal community for more than a century. Today, it is led by Senior Partner Julius W. “Jay” McKay, II, the founder’s grandson.

Reflecting on those early days, Hunter added, “The four partners at The McKay Firm took a tremendous risk on me in 2011. They gave me the opportunity of a lifetime—the backing and stability of one of Columbia’s longest-standing firms, along with the chance to grow into ownership of my own company.”

While MPA has evolved over the past 15 years, the name “MPA” remains as a deliberate tribute to its origins. It honors the foundation laid by The McKay Firm and reflects the shared values that continue to guide both organizations: opportunity, exceptional client service, and strategic advancement.

MPA Strategies will now be MPA with its formal name being MPA Media Corporation. A new website will be unveiled in late February.

South Carolina’s Best Marketing Firm

For the last two years, MPA has been recognized as the Best Marketing Firm in South Carolina by the Guide to South Carolina’s Best of South Carolina Awards  — earning the top statewide designation in both 2024 and 2025.

“Our Best of South Carolina honors are a testament to the incredible passion this team brings to every client partnership,” Hunter added. “Being named the best in our field continues to reinforce our commitment to going above and beyond for the clients and communities we serve.”
