Lisa Muzekari, PE, is vice president of infrastructure at Thomas & Hutton, where she leads multidisciplinary teams across the Southeast. With more than 30 years of experience, she has delivered complex infrastructure and environmental projects supporting major economic development initiatives, including Volvo Cars USA’s manufacturing facility. The first female shareholder in the firm’s history, Muzekari is known for her leadership, mentorship, and commitment to sustainable, community-focused engineering solutions.
I define leadership as creating an environment where people can do their best work and grow with confidence. It requires clarity, consistency, and a willingness to invest in others. Strong leaders listen, communicate openly, and make decisions with both technical understanding and long-term impact in mind. For me, leadership also means building trust over time, through follow-through, accountability, and a commitment to doing the right thing for both people and communities.
My greatest accomplishment is the role I have played in delivering transformational economic development projects across the Southeast, including Scout Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and Hyundai. These projects required balancing environmental stewardship with large-scale infrastructure and growth. Equally important has been building long-term client relationships and mentoring the next generation of engineers, helping them grow into confident professionals and future leaders in the industry.
