River Direct Primary Care

Owner, CEO

Greenville

Dr. Dakota Boisseau is a board-certified family medicine physician bringing a new type of primary care to the Upstate. She completed medical school at Campbell University School of Medicine in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and graduated from medical residency at Prisma Health Greenville. Boisseau's practice, River Direct Primary Care, was born out of a lifelong calling to medicine and a growing frustration with the traditional health care system.

What one thing have you learned that has served you well over the years?

One thing I’ve learned that has served me well is the importance of staying grounded in your “why,” especially when things feel uncertain or challenging. Whether it’s navigating the steep learning curve of business ownership, overcoming moments of doubt, or advocating for a different model of health care that not everyone immediately understands, coming back to that core purpose has been everything. For me, that’s providing thoughtful, relationship-centered, evidence-based care in a way that truly serves patients. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about being willing to keep showing up, to learn as you go, and to stand confidently in what you believe is right, even when it’s not the easiest path. That mindset has helped me grow not just as a physician, but as a business owner and advocate for better healthcare.

If there is one thing you could go back and do differently what would it be?

Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything. Every step, including the challenges, has shaped where I am today and the kind of physician and business owner I’ve become. If there’s one thing I would do differently, though, it would be to trust myself sooner. Like many in medicine, I experienced moments of imposter syndrome, especially stepping into something unconventional. With time, I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t come from having all the answers, but from being grounded in your values and willing to take the leap anyway. I would simply remind my younger self that she was more ready than she thought.
